Two cameras looking likely for iPad 2

So, the iPad 2 speculation continues, and according to one source Reuters cites, the iPad 2 is going to be sporting two cameras when it arrives.
The lack of a camera on the iPad has been one of the bigger sticking points for some consumers who aren’t tempted by Apple‘s tablet, and have perhaps plumped for twin camera bearing slates such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab instead.
Two of Reuters’ sources familiar with iPad matters have said that the manufacturing plants which supply the components for Apple’s hardware are ramping up in preparation for a second version of the iPad. However, only one said that it would come with twin cameras, one on the front for video chatting, and a main camera on the rear.

The other source said the iPad 2 would be lighter with a thinner profile, and an improved resolution on the display. To be honest, we were expecting all of the above, and indeed this may well turn out to be the case.
Adding fuel to the camera rumours, TechRadar has also reported that an Apple fansite (iLounge) has shown snaps of a new iPad 2 case, which has a hole cut for a rear camera. It also appears to have slimmer contours, so may back up the lighter and thinner claim of Reuters’ second source.
Current speculation about when the iPad will arrive has the date pegged at April 2011, or possibly even sooner, so we won’t have long to wait before the official unveiling of the gadget.
