Google exec shows off Android powered Motorola tablet

Google’s Vice President of Engineering, Andy Rubin, had a surprise up his sleeve at an interview which took place at the D: Dive into Mobile event in San Francisco yesterday.

He pulled out not just the Nexus S, successor to Google’s Nexus One smartphone, but also an unnamed Motorola prototype tablet running Honeycomb, the next version of Android which is designed to be more tablet friendly.

On a video of the All Things Digital interview posted up on YouTube, Rubin revealed that the tablet had a dual-core Nvidia processor, and it certainly boasted a bigger iPad sized screen, a 10 inch model, not a 7 incher like the Galaxy Tab.

The device also lacked hardware buttons such as the iPad‘s home button, functioning instead with virtual buttons on the display itself, which are capable of repositioning themselves whichever way the screen is oriented.

Rubin wouldn’t be drawn on pricing, unsurprisingly, or a release date, although he did joke that the prototype version was worth around $10,000.
